Theatre Buddies are trained in sighted guiding techniques to assist VocalEye users with tickets, equipment and seating at the theatre for described performances and events. Meet-up Buddies are also available to guide patrons from a designated meetup location to and from most theatres and arts venues in Vancouver. Meet up locations are close to public transit.
Book a Buddy
VocalEye users may request a Theatre Buddy meet up. Meet ups must be arranged at least 3 days in advance of the described event.
Become a Theatre Buddy Volunteer
VocalEye volunteers must attend Sighted Guide Basic Training to learn to safely, effectively and confidently assist people who have varying degrees of sight loss.
An additional Theatre Buddy orientation will introduce more specialized training for assisting VocalEye patrons at our events.
Trainings are offered free of charge several times per year.
