Almost Live episode #175

Produced in 1965, this film is an informal portrait of the renowned Canadian poet, novelist and songwriter, Leonard Cohen. It shows him at age 30 on a visit to his hometown of Montreal, where he comes “to renew his neurotic affiliations.” He reads his poetry to an enthusiastic crowd, visits with family and friends, strolls the streets of the city, relaxes in his three-dollar-a-night hotel room and even takes a bath.

Directed by Donald Brittain and Don Owen.

This documentary film is presented with audio description courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada – NFB/ONF.
