Join us for this special spring double-bill as we shift from the darkness of winter to brighter days ahead.
Part 1, at 7 pm Pacific Time: The Beginning of Happiness is a new dance film that explores and reflects upon issues pertaining to violence against women. All elements of the work itself – text, music and dance – are created and performed by women.
This collaboration between Good Women Dance Collective and FEMME Vocal Quartet composed by Jane Berry was originally slated to be a live performance in March 2020 and was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’re excited to share this new dance film with audio description by Kat Germain and Inside Out Theatre’s Good Host Program. Host Amy Amantea will be joined by special guests and Kate Stashko from the Good Women Collective and the film’s co-director and producer, Jane Berry.
Content advisory: this film contains subject matter dealing with domestic violence that may be disturbing to certain audiences.
Part 2, at 8 pm Pacific Time: Vancouver Cherry Blossom Preview, a virtual introduction to this beloved and spectacular floral awakening and a preview of the upcoming annual Cherry Blossom Festival, with Master Gardener, Ingrid Turk.
