Part of Early Music Vancouver’s Digital Concert Hall, this event features historically informed performances of instrumental music from 18th-century Germany and Italy. The performers are part of the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program, a collaboration between Early Music Vancouver, the UBC School of Music, and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra.
VocalEye will present the video recorded performance, filmed last summer at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Host Amy Amantea will be joined by two of the performers, violinist Jiten Beairsto and flutist Heather Beaty.
The programme will include a sampling of work from three 18th-century composers:
SET 1
* Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713), Sonata op. 5 no. 5 in g minor
* Johann Gottlieb Janitsch (1708-c. 1763), Sonata da camera op. 1 no. 2 in G major
SET 2
* Johann Bernhard Bach (1676-1749), Overture no. 1 in g minor
Each set is under 30 minutes long and will be followed by conversation with our guests.

The pre-show introduction will begin at 6:45 pm with Amy and special guests Jiten Beairsto and Heather Beaty. Our Guests
Jiten Beairsto has performed with a variety of ensembles across B.C. and Canada, both as a modern and baroque violinist. These include the Victoria, Vancouver Island, and Kamloops Symphonies, as well as the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and Victoria Baroque. He completed his Master of Music with David Gillham at UBC, his Bachelor of Music with Sharon Stanis at the University of Victoria, and studied baroque violin with Chloe Meyers as part of the Early Music Vancouver Scholarship Programme. In 2018 he helped found the Gallo Chamber Players, a local group of baroque instrumentalists who perform chamber music from the 16th to 18th centuries. No stranger to VocalEye, Jiten helps out regularly behind the scenes with Almost Live Zoom events as part of his Master of Counselling Psychology program at Adler University.
Heather Beaty is a multi-faceted performing arts professional who received her music performance degrees from the University of British Columbia, as well as an honours Advanced Certificate in Arts and Entertainment Management from Capilano University in 2017. Heather is the principal flute of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, and simultaneously acts as the KSO’s Orchestra Steward and chair of the Kamloops Symphony Players’ Association. Heather’s freelance work includes performances with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, Prince George Symphony Orchestra, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Plastic Acid Orchestra, and Aventa Ensemble. In addition to the modern flute, Heather is also a baroque flute specialist. She was honoured to be selected twice as a winner of Early Music Vancouver’s Baroque Orchestral Scholarship Programme which supported her baroque flute studies under Victoria Baroque’s flutist Soile Stratkauskas. In addition to her interest in music performance, Heather is passionate about welcoming the timeless traditions of classical and baroque music into new spaces for 21st Century audiences. She founded the Vancouver concert series Concerts on Tap in 2019 with her artistic partner Molly MacKinnon; a performance concept that paired a one-hour program of classical music with a flight of craft beer or spirits. Heather’s favourite memory from the series included performing Bach with harpsichord in Strange Fellows Brewery November 2018. Heather is also Marketing and Communications Manager of the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
