VocalEye is thrilled to present this encore reading of a new musical by Realwheels playwright-in-residence, Kirsten Kirsch.
Gimpy: A New Musical follows Soren, a young woman with a disability living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who dreams of becoming a Broadway musical star. Meanwhile, her father, the fictional mayor of Tulsa, insists she follow a more practical career path. Soren meets a musician who recognizes her songwriting talent and she discovers a different route to her dreams of being a performing artist, helping out her beloved town along the way. The universal themes in this story will resonate through the perspective of a person with cerebral palsy carving their own path in life. In addition to writing her first play, Kirsten Kirsch also plays the lead character.
The VocalEye virtual lobby opens at 6:30 pm Pacific Time for some pre-show mingling with host Amy Amantea. The pre-show introduction will begin at 6:45 pm with our special guest, Kirsten Kirsch. The play reading begins at 7 pm. The running time is approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. Join us afterward for Q and A with Kirsten, conversation and a prize draw. BC residents will be entered to win a $20 White Spot gift card.
