“Space … is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is.”
Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) was not a scientist, but he definitely got it right when he wrote that. But how do we know how big space is? Especially for blind folk, astronomy and space exploration can be challenging topics to get our minds around. Are we daunted? No way! In this tour of the Milky Way and beyond, we’re going to use description, sonification, analogies, and an app or two to explore our corner of the universe. Don’t panic: we’re all in orbit together.
Join special guest host Christine Malec for a speed date with the cosmos. Christine is a recurring guest on Almost Live and co-host of the Talk Description to Me podcast, a musician, an Arts Consultant and member of Toronto’s blind community. She’s always got questions, and loves to find the people who have answers, then share the most interesting answers with the rest of the world.
